About this Item: London: G Bell, 1847. First edition. HB. Brown cloth, gilt short title to spine and front with gilt cartouche. xv, 235pp. With 24 'engravings on stone' in plates (line lithograph) and many b&w engravings on wood in text. The text was expanded from lectures given by the author to St.Alban's Architectural Society, of which he was a leading member. Good+ condition. Coves have some light marks and spot stains, gilt quite bright; the spine cloth appears to have been carefully re-laid with endpapers renewed, at some point. Binding sound. Most of the pages are clean, with light browning to margins and closed edges. However, the thicker, different paper of the plates has some foxing Two ownership inscriptions to half-title, one from 1848; small tear to half-title. Seller Inventory # 28120
