Some wear to edges of boards and small white stain to bottom edge towards spine, light soiling to boards and fading to spine. Bookplate to front pastedown, foxing to pastedowns, fading left by two magazine articles and tiny holes to front end paper. Also, two pamphlets laid in: Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite of Freemasonry by Thomas J. Harkins (Fall Reunion, 1940, Charlotte, NC) and "Statutes, By-Laws, and Regulations of Charlotte Lodge of Perfection" (1938). Hardback book bound in purple cloth-covered boards with gilt decorations on the cover. Book has faded spine with wear at top and bottom of spine and along edges with former owner's name on front end page (F. M. Kidd 32nd Little Rock, ARK) and a cracked front hinge that is holding. Copyright page shows a date of 1871, but an expert pointed out that the A. M 5641 indicated a publishing date of 1881 and thus the book being a second printing. 861 pages.
