Book First Edition Signed
Hardcover. Condition: Good. No Jacket. 1st Edition. Title page date of 1941 matches only date showing to copyright page. Copyright page also bears the stand-alone letter "A" and the Scribner's colophon. Thus, the first edition. This book is "good," only, with substantial rub and fraying to all corners, pastedowns toning brown, minor stains to rear board, and a LOT of underlining and some margin notes throughout the text in both red and black, both pencil and pen. (Text remains fully legible.) It is, however, boldly signed by the author in his distinctive hand -- name only -- in blue ink to the half-title page. (Please see scan.) NOT ex-library. NO dust jacket. We obtained from a Pennsylvania theological seminary, where we were advised both this volume and a similarly signed 1936 printing of Niebuhr's "Reflections On the End of An Era" (not a first, also considerably underlined) came from the estate of a former professor and chaplain at Franklin & Marshall College, Lancaster. We will also include the aforementioned second signed book along with this "Nature and Destiny," at no extra charge, if requested. Author-signed copies of "The Nature and Destiny of Man" are uncommon in any printing. 306 pp. including index. Reduced from $4,000. Signed by Author(s).
