She was on the staff of the Irish Times and was the daughter of the Chaplain to the Lord Lieutenant of Ireland. In his 'Irish Novelists and the Victorian' Age James H. Murphy writes 'her novels detail the dilemmas of women facing a new, freer but more uncertain world.'.
