L'édition originale en latin fut publiée en 1641. Manque de cuir aux coiffes, à trois coins, mors supérieur entièrement fendu mais le plat n'est pas détaché. Petits trou de vers en marges et sur les 30 derniers feuillets affectant quelques lettres du texte. Exemplaire méritant d'être restauré.

Un fort vol. au format in-4 (324 x 182 mm) de 12 ff. n.fol. et 754 pp. Reliure de l'époque de plein veau moucheté brun, plats jansénistes, dos à nerfs orné d'un décor ''à la grotesque'' comportant filets gras à froid, doubles caissons d'encadrement dorés, filets en pointillés dorés, important entrelacs aux petits fers dorés, semis de pointillés dorés, titre doré, palette dorée en tête et queue, tranches mouchetées. Edition en partie originale. ''L'auteur a ici revu dette traduction, s'y est corrigé lui-même, et a pris soin d'y éclaircir quelques passages dont le sens n'était pas assez net en latin.'' (in Brunet). « Cet ouvrage avait déjà été revu et corrigé par Descartes en 1647, mais dans cette édition on trouve pour la première fois une lettre de Descartes au R. P.
