Hardcover. Condition: Good. No Jacket. 2nd Edition. Second edition and first printing.Not dated - believed to be 1909. In quite good dark red cloth boards, with gilt decoration and titles to front. The covers are quire clean, thouigh spine is sunned, very tight and with worn edges and sides of spine. Light brown and white patterned end papers feature initials of publisher; slightly tanned, with previous repair evident and dedication and name and address on front free end paper. Gilt top cut edge; the fore and tail edges are slightly tanned and the fore edge is deckled. Very good minus text block clean, firm and straight pages - except for publisher's catalogue to rear which is tanned. With b/w plates (some fold-out). Overall good condition. Without jacket.

Corners are bumped and a little frayed Spine ends are crushed, with noticeable splits and chips. Moderate tanning to spine and edges. Boards are notably bowed. Book has a prominent forward lean. Moderate water marks to boards and spine.
