John Tricker Conquest (1789-1866) from Chatham graduated MD in Edinburgh in 1813 and commenced practice in London the following year. He lectured on midwifery at the medical school of St Bartholomew's Hospital and served as obstetric consultant to a number of other London institutions. The Outline was first published in 1820 and was published in six editions until 1854. This enlarged second edition is scarce; COPAC records only two library copies, the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow and the Wellcome.
