Auszug: Die Deutschen in Pabianice (deutsch Pabianitz, 1940 kurzzeitig Burgstadt) waren ein Teil der deutschen Minderheit in Polen. 1860 wohnten in Pabianice 1.425 Deutsche. Sie bildeten 29 % der Stadtbewohner. 1913 erreichte die Zahl der Deutschstämmigen in Pabianice 6.918 (14 % der Bevölkerung); 1921 aufgrund der Zerstörungen des Ersten Weltkrieges verzeichnete man nur 1.634 Einwohner (5,5 % der Bevölkerung), die sich als Deutsche angaben; dagegen stieg die Zahl der Deutschen bis 1931 auf 4.494 Personen (9,8 %). Der Aufenthalt der ersten Deutschen in Pabianice lässt sich nach urkundlichen Erwähnungen auf das Jahr 1793, als die Stadt in Folge der zweiten Teilung Polens in den preußischen Staat eingegliedert wurde, datieren. Deutsche Einwohner waren am Ende des 18. Jahrhunderts unter anderem Christian Rexer, Johannes Heinrich Ufmann, der bei der Brauerei angestellt war, Karl Haux, der Schneider Johann Martin Erhart, Johannes Bether und Johannes Keler. Viele Deutsche kamen in den Jahren der preußischen Herrschaft als Beamte nach Pabianice. Samuel Gottfried Schimink war Schreiber und Johannes Schulz Intendant im Pabianitzer Amt. Johannes Gottlob Wolmar war für die Rechtsprechung zuständig. Das Schloss der Krakauer Bischöfe, zwischen 1793 und 1807 Sitz der preußischen Verwaltung, seit 1833 RathausDie nächste Einwanderungswelle der deutschen Siedler kam in den zwanziger Jahren des 19. Jahrhunderts, in Folge des Wiener Kongresses. In diesem wurde beschlossen, von der Mehrheit der ehemaligen preußischen Gebiete das Königreich Polen zu begründen und dies dem russischen Zaren zu unterstellen. Die Warschauer Regierung begünstigte durch ihre Absicht, das Land industrialisieren zu wollen, die Ansiedlung weiterer Einwanderer.
