About this Item: John Camden Hotten, London, 1865. Decorative Cloth. Condition: Fair. 1st Edition. Complete in two (2) volumes, uniformly bound in dark violet-blue cloth, bordered in blind, lettered and decorated in gilt, beveled edges. Vol. I with thin strips of loss along spine extremities, mended cloth along lower rear joint. Vol. II spine panel chipped with 1/2" loss at head (including first line of spine lettering) and 1/4" loss at heel. Both spine panels darkened by age. Dampstaining to both volumes has led to dye lightening/spotting over about half of each cover, extending from fore-edges, with dampstaining to front endsheets and early leaves through main title, dampstaining light to margins of some late leaves and faint along fore-edge margins through portions of text block. Bindings firm, with one or two central gatherings projecting a bit in Vol. II but firm. Despite cosmetic issues, decent enough reference copies of a scarce issue. Size: 8vo - over 7" - 9" tall. Book.
