About this Item: Norrcena Society, 1907. Cloth. Condition: Very Good -. Dust Jacket Condition: No Jacket As Issued. Limited/Numbered. This 327-page, 104-year-old offering in VG- condition is A Collection of Popular Tales from The Norse and North German, Translated by George Webbe Dasent, and published by The Norrcena Society in 1907. Not an ex-library copy, this offering is still holding up quite well for its 104 years. It shows some random, whitish scuff marks at 4-5 spots on front cover, some webbing is visible between pages 120-121 and pages 248-249(but binding overall is sound), and, foxing can be seen on a fair number of text's pages as well as on endpapers front and back, but the foxing does not take away from readability of offering. This is one volume from "The Memorial Edition (There are but three hundred and fifty complete sets made for the world, of which this is copy No. 174)"--this declaration taken from the half-title page. And, from the second page in from front cover board, "Anglo Saxon Classics: Norrcena Embracing the History and Romance of Northern Europe, Rasmus B. Anderson, LL.D., Editor-in-Chief (Privately Printed for Members)". NOTE: We have seven(7) more, different volumes of this "Memorial Edition" set from the Norrcena Society, but cannot determine whether our eight books constitute a COMPLETE set, in fact. At any rate, after an extremely informative "Introductory Essay on the Origin and Diffusion of Popular Tales", this 6" X 9" volume offers some 41 stories/tales, such as "King Gram", "The Werewolf", "The Magician's Pupil", "King Waldemar", "Why the Sea Is Salt", "The Husband Who Was To Mind the House", and "The Three Sisters Trapped in a Mountain". Beautifully complementing the text are four, vintage Photogravures (reproductions of either paintings or drawings by Carstens, Schwanhild, Millais, and Surang). They are simply beautiful, and in my opinion MAKE this offering the treat that it is! Thank you !!. Seller Inventory # 004782
