About this Item: The Sun Dial Press, NY, 1940. Hardcover. Hardcover, VERY GOOD, red boards, black spine titles, 291 pp.A few years ago, an Australian surgeon of literary inclinations solaced his declining years by reading about famous and infamous men and women and it occurred to him to inquire how far their conduct and accomplishments were conditioned by their health, or rather by their disease. He embodied his researches and reflections in a little volume entitled "Post Mortems" which was generously received by reviewers and widely read by the public. So great was its success that he followed it with a second volume called Mere Mortals in which he dealt more fully with the diseases rather than with the dispositions of kings and commoners who have become immortal. In these two books which are here put together, Dr. C. MacLaurin revealed himself a keen psychologist and a versatile diagnostician. Seller Inventory # 007866
