Joanne Rowling is displayed on copyright page. Printed in UK by Clays.Pictorial green hardback(gilt lettering, illustration on the front cover, gilt lettering to the spine, two small nicks, dent and scratch on the edges of the cover and spine) in near fine condition, no Dj as issued. Gilted outer edges of the pages.Nice and clean pages as new with a small ink mark on the outer edges,a couple of small nicks on the edges of the pages.317pp.A collectable early printing. This is another paragraph Book Description: The worry, when faced with the follow-up to books as good as Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone and Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets (both winners of the Nestl? Smarties Prize Gold Award), is that it won't be as good. With J.K. Rowling's Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban any concerns are banished from page one. This, the third in the series, continues where the previous two left off and is a fantastic adventure of mystery, magic and mayhem combined with liberal doses of humour and plenty of suspense. Forced to do his homework in the dead of night and forbidden to refer to his magic skills or his life at Hogwarts school, Harry Potter is forced to endure the summer holidays with the dreaded Dursleys. The arrival of Aunt Marge is the final straw and, in a fit of anger, Harry breaks all the rules and casts a spell on her, causing her to blow up like a balloon. Running away from his dreaded relatives, Harry expects to be expelled from Hogwarts for his blatant flaunting of the rule not to use magic outside term time. However, the arrival of the mysterious Knight Bus and a meeting with Cornelius Fudge, the Minister of Magic, result in Harry enjoying the rest of the holidays in the wonderful surroundings of the Leaky Cauldron. The escape of Sirius Black--one time friend of Harry's parents, implicated in their murder and follower of You- Know-Who--from Azkaban, has serious implications for Harry for it would appear that Black is bent on revenge against Harry for thwarting You-Know-Who. Back at Hogwarts, Harry's movements are restricted by the presence of the Dementors--guards from Azkaban on the look out for Black--however, this doesn't stop him throwing himself into the new Quidditch season and going about his normal business--or at least attempting to. Despite warnings Harry is determined to get to the bottom of the mystery surrounding Sirius Black--how could this one-time close friend of his parents become the cause of their deaths? And why does the presence of the Dementors have such a devastating effect on him, causing him to hear the last moments of his mother's life?. Seller Inventory # 9244

About this Item: London: Bloomsbury, 1999-2008, 2008. ALL FIRST EDITIONS, FIRST PRINTING, IN DELUXE BINDINGS. Ten volumes, octavo (26 x 17 x 36cm). Original harlequin cloth, with gilt decoration, illustrations to upper covers, and all edges gilt. Volume two signed by the artist Cliff Wright to the upper board image. Volumes one lightly handled. A fine set. The deluxe issue is a larger format, in decorative cloth binding. Harry Potter's wizarding adventures have had an unrivalled impact in popular culture today; indeed, some experts have referred to adults between the ages of roughly 20-30 years old as 'the Harry Potter generation', who are seen to hold markedly different values to their parents. Harry Potter is a series of many genres, including fantasy, bildungsroman, and the British school story (which includes elements of mystery, thriller, adventure, and romance). According to Rowling, the main theme of the books is death - although prejudice, corruption, and madness can be seen as dominant motifs. Seller Inventory # 49131

About this Item: Bloomsbury 1999-2007, London, 1999. Hardcover. Condition: Fine. No Jacket. First Edition. The first printings of the deluxe editions of the (at the time) full Harry Potter series. Clothbound with pictorial onlays, all edges gilt; fine without dust jackets, as issued. The Azkaban, which was the first volume published in a British deluxe edition (Philosopher's Stone and Chamber being issued in a deluxe edition retroactively) had the smallest printing, (reportedly 7000 copies) and names "Joanne Rowling" rather than "J.K. Rowling" on the copyright page. Here together with the collector's edition of The Tales of Beedle the Bard [London: Children's High Level Group, 2008]. The leatherbound Beedle is in a drawstring bag, which, with ten illustrations by Rowling, are housed together in a large box made to look like a textbook, which is contained in the publisher's sleeve. Also included is the Sotheby's catalog for the auction of one of seven copies of the manuscript of Beedle the Bard, with an introduction by Rowling. Since the time of the last deluxe edition's release, the Harry Potter franchise has expanded with the completion of the 8-film series (with an additional three-movie prequel having debuted in 2016); original Rowling content on the Pottermore website; two Wizarding World theme parks; and a two-part stage play sequel (Harry Potter and the Cursed Child), which premiered in London, the script of which was released as the eighth book in the series. Harry Potter's wizarding adventures have had an unrivalled impact on popular culture today; indeed, some have referred to adults between the ages of roughly 20-30 years old as 'the Harry Potter generation'. Harry Potter is a series of many genres, including fantasy, bildungsroman, and the British school story (which includes elements of mystery, thriller, adventure, and romance). According to Rowling, the main theme of the books is death - although prejudice, corruption, and madness can be seen as dominant motifs. Seller Inventory # 49555
