About this Item: Horace Liveright Inc., 1928. Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. No Jacket. 1st Edition. 159 p. Black cloth with gilt lettering. First edition, first printing. Inscribed "To David Schulte, a great propagandist from whom I am learning much. Edward L. Bernays" on the front free end paper in black ink. Schulte was the owner of a cigar store chain. He hired Bernays away from Liggett, secretly working on behalf of American Tobacco Co. head George Washington Hill, according to Larry Tye's bio The Father of Spin. Bernays would go on to craft the infamous "Torches of Freedom" campaign for Hill a year later. Very Good condition. Small stains to interior gutters. Dulling to spine lettering, faint stain on spine. Light wear to head and tail cloth, a few scuffs, foxing to top edge. A neat, clean signed copy of a scarce public relations work with a great historical association. Signed by Author(s).
