About this Item: Createspace Independent Publishing Platform, United States, 2018. Paperback. Condition: New. Language: English. Brand new Book. Actors and actresses are fascinating individuals, in that they choose to share themselves through the personalities and identities of others. What motivates them to seek refuge in the creative realm over life in the real world? Which ones are truly artists, and which ones use art to cope? Which qualities separate great actors from average ones? How is it that Stanislavski's methodology is able to render the most authentic of human behavior through actors? What is the "emotional memory" technique, and what are its mental dangers? These questions, and others, are considered in "Actors: A Psychological Sketch" by a writer who studied for several years under both the Meisner and Method approaches to acting. Born in an aristocratic military family and studying to, eventually, become a Professor of Philosophy at the University of Moscow, he would be arrested, jailed, and very close to being sent to Siberia for life several times - for criticizing the Holy Synod in 1913, for a conspiracy against the government and for revolutionary activities in 1920, etc. - until he was expelled from Russia in 1922 and sent into exile, together with 160 other intellectuals, on the so called "Philosophers' Ship."
