About this Item: Andre Deutsch, (London), 1990. Condition: Near Fine. First British edition. Trade paperback. Near fine with rubbing and creasing. Inscribed by the author to Herb Yellin. Herb Yellin was the founder and publisher of Lord John Press and the most frequent of Updike's fine press collaborators. He named his press after noting that the list of authors he wanted to publish all shared the same first name, chief among them John Updike, his favorite. Hub Fans Bid Kid Adieu became the press's first book in 1977 with 10 more to follow over the next 23 years. Yellin's friendship with Updike grew with each new limited edition benefitting his already enormous Updike collection, with Updike himself contributing copies of new editions of his books - often inscribed. In a 2010 interview with Yellin he noted that Updike ".liked that if anything ever happened to his own collection, he had my collection on the opposite side of the country." A notable association, an uncommon edition to find Inscribed. Seller Inventory # 402858

About this Item: Alfred a Knopf Inc, New York, 1981. Cloth. First Edition. Fine in a Very Good+ dustjacket. Bound in full mustard yellow cloth. The spine is stamped in silver and gilt; the front panel, in silver. Bright red topstain. 467pps. Stated First Edition. There is a mild bump to the upper rear tip, otherwise clean, tight, square, and bright. No apparent reading wear and no previous ownership markings. The price-clipped dust jacket, glossy in a mylar sleeve, is mildy rubbed with a small, closed tear at the bottom of the rear panel. SIGNED by the author -- without further inscription -- on the half-title page. ".The hero of John Updike’s Rabbit, Run, ten years after the events of Rabbit Redux, has come to enjoy considerable prosperity as the chief sales representative of Springer Motors, a Toyota agency in Brewer, Pennsylvania. The time is 1979: Skylab is falling, gas lines are lengthening, and double-digit inflation coincides with a deflation of national self-confidence. Nevertheless, Harry 'Rabbit' Angstrom feels in good shape, ready to enjoy life at last -- until his wayward son, Nelson, returns from the West, and the image of an old love pays a visit to the lot. New characters and old populate these scenes from Rabbit’s middle age as he continues to pursue, in his zigzagging fashion, the rainbow of happiness." Purchase with confidence: all books, gradings, and descriptions are rendered the care of a genuine bibliophile. Satisfaction guaranteed or all costs you've incurred will be promptly refunded. About this Item: Alfred A. Knopf, New York, 1981. Condition: Fine. Dust Jacket Condition: Fine. First edition. Fine in fine dustwrapper. Third in the series. Winner of both the National Book Award and the Pulitzer Prize for Fiction in 1982. Inscribed by the author: "for Herb Best John." Herb Yellin was the founder and publisher of Lord John Press and the most frequent of Updike's fine press collaborators. In a 2010 interview with Yellin he noted that Updike ".liked that if anything ever happened to his own collection, he had my collection on the opposite side of the country." A notable association.
