First edition, first printing of King's fourth novel and the first to be published under the pseudonym Richard Bachman. With the plot resembling actual high school shootings in the 1980s and 90s, King became uncomfortable with the idea of having it remain in print, for fear that it might inspire further such occurrences - "(Rage is) now out of print, and a good thing." It briefly remained available as part of the Bachman Books omnibus, but has since been out of print and is increasingly scarce. New York: Signet Books / New American Library, 1977. Publisher's original illustrated wraps; pp. (x), 211, [3]. A very good copy. Binding remains tight and sturdy with a trace of a lean. Light general shelfwear and rubbing to wraps, crease to spine, rubber stamp to top edge of text block. Tiny puncture to rear wrap and back half of text block. Very scarce.

The first of Stephen King's novels to be written under the Richard Bachman pseudonym, a vivid first-person account of a disturbed student who commits a school shooting in Maine. King allowed "Rage" to fall out of print after several real-life school shootings in the 1980s and 1990s notably resembled the events which transpired in the novel. Very Good plus in wrappers, with a slight lean and faint reading creases to the spine, and an ink annotation (noting the letter "A") on the top right corner of the first leaf. Scarce. This copy has some light tanning/soil to the edges of the text block and the erasure of a price to the ffep else fine. The19.95 priced jacket has some lightish rubbing wear, some edge wear, bit of chipping to the area at the top and heel of the spine. It has been awhile since I have had one of these in stock especially in a First Printing of the First Omnibus Edition, the true hardcover first. Kind of a rare bird. A compilation edition of the first four Bachman Books which were originally published as PBOs with an introduction by King "Why I was Bachman". Damn nice copy with a so-so jacket. Creases and stress creases along the spine seams. Rubs to the corners and spine tips. Faint crease along the length of the spine. The front cover has a faint, 2" diagonal crease at its lower right corner. The rear cover has a 1 1/4" crease at its upper outer edge. A number "25" is inked and circled on the front fly leaf's upper right corner. A number "50" is written in black marker on the same corner. Mild tanning to the page margins. The covers' versos have tanning along their edges.
