This adaptation of RASHOMON ran for six months on Broadway, and was nominated for three Tony Awards. 8'' x 5.25''. Original cloth-backed blue boards with black-and-white pictorial paste-down. Original unclipped ($2.95) dust jacket. Black-and-white pictorial title page spread, with two black-and-white plates. 76 pages. Pages 20/21 partially stuck together, likely a manufacturing error. Jacket with mild soil, light toning to spine and rear edge; 1.5" closed tear near rear hinge, smaller chip to rear corner. Binding with a touch of sunning to upper edge, a bit of bumping to spine ends. Textblock firm and clean. Very good plus in very good plus dust jacket.

Robinson, William Shatner, and Howard Da Silva. A nice copy of an uncommon play.

Fay and Michael Kanin wrote for both stage and screen as a collaborative force in the arts for much of their marriage, beginning with their first adapted screenplay Sunday Punch (1942) - written on their honeymoon - to which MGM bought the rights. They were nominated for a joint Academy Award in 1958 for Teacher's Pet, among many other accolades. Fay went on to be president of the Academy from 1979 to 1983. From the library of Laurence Olivier, to whom many books were gifted over the length of his illustrious, industrious, and enduring career as one of the most important figures of stage and screen in the 20th century.
