About this Item: Gale and the British Library, 1877. Paperback. Condition: New. Language: English . Brand New Book ***** Print on Demand *****.This historic book may have numerous typos and missing text. Purchasers can download a free scanned copy of the original book (without typos) from the publisher. Not indexed. Not illustrated. 1877. Excerpt: . CHAPTER VIII. ON THE SHOEES OF THE FEOZEN OCEAN., hen Frank went on deck next morning, he found the vessel standing southward with all her sails furled before a strong gale of wind, which kept the floating ice always about them, though they could see that the sea before them was much more free from ice than it was to windward. On this course they continued ah day, and as the last gleam of the brief sunshine faded from the sky, Frank saw the captain pointing southward, and, quickly gazing in that direction, perceived a long undulating line of white that was distinctly defined for a few minutes between the sea and the sky, and then was lost in the fast-gathering gloom of night. With the rising sun they beheld before them a long ridge of low hills covered with snow, their whitened summits sharply denned against the slate-coloured sky, blushing into rose where they caught the upward beams of the glowing luminary of day, and shaded into grey on their western slopes. The bluish grey of the waves was varied with the white masses of floating ice between the ship and the land; and in every other direction, far as the eye could reach, was a vast field of ice, piled up by the wind and the waves at all angles to the horizon. Slowly the barque was brought nearer to the land, and at noon was moored with grapnels on the edge of a thick sheet of ice that had closed up a creek. The hills had receded from view as the frost-bound ship was steered towards them, and were now seen to be a considerable distance from the coast, rising gradually from a dreary waste of snow, dotted here and there with a stunted and leafless pine. There were no signs of human habitation, but a white fox was seen near the shore, regarding the ship with mingled curiosity and surprise, and flocks of aq. Seller Inventory # AAV9781535806435

FIREDRAKE / ICE DRAGON / WOLFHELM /: Knaak, Richard A.

About this Item: Warner, New York. Mass Market Paperbacks. Condition: Very Good. 'Firedrake' - 268 pp. ISBN 0445209402 - 1989, 1st printing - "In the ultimate war between humans and fiery, shape-shifting beings, Duke Toma, bent on utter supremacy, has unleashed every conceivable evil on the world of the Dragon Kings. Only one person will dare to challenge him: Cabe Bedlam, a mere youth cast adrift in a world where none can be trusted. Yet at his command is a formidable arsenal - a fierce warrior tradition imparted by regal, still-living forebears - the fabulous gifts of witch Gwen, the ravishing lady of the Amber - and the magical Horned Blade, the sword that promises its bearer total mastery over the many menacing forms of man and beast." 'Ice Dragon' - 248 pp. ISBN 0445209429 - 1989, 1st printing - "He was a novice warrior, young and untrained, yet Cabe Bedlam fought the fierce shape-shifting Dragon Kings who sought to rule the world of man. Wielding his magic sword against their glittering scaled armor, he drove them back into their petty Dragonrealms. The Dragon Kings still schemed to usurp Cabe and his wife, the gifted spellcaster, Gwen, but none could pierce the potent magic that guarded the humans. Then from the Northern Wastes, the merciless Ice Dragon unleashed the Final Winter - his lethal scheme to conquer the Dragonrealms, and sweep mankind into oblivion. Only Cabe has the courage and the power to prevent such disaster. And so he must journey to a distant, frozen land - and to an epic confrontation with the bone-white, utterly evil Ice Dragon." 'Wolfhelm' - 251 pp. ISBN 0445209666 - 1990, 1st printing - "The Dragon Emperor is dead, yet his lust for power leaves a wicked legacy: The dragonrealms and human kingdoms alike lie in ruins. Tomorrow's hope - the Emperor's hatchlings - live on, protected by human warrior Cabe Bedlam and his wife, the potent witch Gwen. Even so, the future of dragon and man alike teeters on the brink of disaster. Only Cabe's good friend, the Gryphon, can save the shape-shifting dragons from losing their magical powers. Half-humanoid lion, half-bird, he has set sail in search of the mysterious Dream Lands of his birth. Armed with illusion cloaks and a navy of seasoned drakes, he must find and conquer the fearsome Dark God called the Ravager - before all hope for the future is destroyed." 'Shadow Steed' - 263 pp. ISBN 0445209674 - 1990, 1st printing - "The prosperous mountain kingdom Talak suvived war with the Ice Dragon unwounded - except for young, mutilated King Melicard's hatred of dragons, drakes, and magical humans like Cabe and Gwen Bedlam. Pursuing his twisted vendetta, Melicard captures the demon steed Darkhorse but unwittingly frees the sinister pan-dimensional entity Shade, a being who has found the ultimate spell of world-dominating power. At once Shade plans to test his deadly rites - on Melicard's betrothed, the beautiful Princess Erini. Now, to save his beloved and his world, the mad king must trust his foes, join with his enemies, and ride with Darkhorse on a lethal plunge into the depths of what he fears most - the heart of Dragon magic." 'The Dragon Crown' - 323 pp. ISBN 0446364649 - 1994, 1st printing - "Son of the sinister Gold Dragon, the young shapeshifter Kyl is about to be crowned Dragon Emperor, lord of the drake kingdoms. But should the throne be his? For while some dragons are good and wise, others are driven mad by their own magic. And some are born evil, demons of murder and blood. Which is Kyl? With the future of the world at stake, Kyl must survive ordeals of assassinations, manipulation, and conspiracies that began before his birth. These lethal tests may purify the dragon - or unleash his dark lusts. Instead of bringing peace and justice, Emperor Kyl may plunge dragons, wizards, and humans into a nightmare reign of deadly horror." 'The Horse King' - 346 pp. ISBN 0446603538 - 1997, 1st printing - "With an army of evil wizards, the power-mad Horse King Lanith launches a war of genocide. Then Cabe Bedlam, Emperor Gryphon, and Darkhorse the Ete. Seller Inventory # 27718
