About this Item: Twentieth Century-Fox, Los Angeles, 1938. Final script for the classic 1938 film, "Rebecca of Sunnybrook Farm," based on the novel by Kate Douglas Wiggin, directed by Allan Dwan, produced by Darryl F. Zanuck, written for the screen by Don Ettlinger and Karl Tunberg, and starring Shirley Temple, Randolph Scott, Jack Haley, and Gloria Stuart. This Darryl F. Zanuck's copy, with his large holograph initials on the front wrapper (as was his practice), and penciled holograph notes throughout, most of which are deletions. Interestingly, Zanuck has written "cast boy" on the first blank, with a doodle, indicating that it is likely a reminder (i.e., "cast" being a verb). Blue titled wrappers, marked "FINAL," rubber-stamped Copy No. 1, and dated September 28, 1937. Distribution page present, with receipt removed. Title page present, with credits for screenwriters Ettlinger and Tunberg. Pages Near Fine, wrapper Very Good plus with yapping at the edges, bound with three gold brads. Seller Inventory # 103688

About this Item: Houghton, Mifflin & Company, Boston & New York, 1903. Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. 1st Edition. [340pp]: [ii], x, 328; gilt ribbed wine cloth; 182 x 127 x 28 mm. Blanck's conjectured third (or possibly second) state of the sheets [BAL 22632]: reading "Don't go to the side door" (325:9); & "in the October sun" (327:13). However in an unrecorded type-only wine binding with no publisher's imprint at all on spine, measuring 7-3/16" in height (rather than 7-5/16") & employing wove endleaves. Two-colour title-page bears the 1903 date with "Published October 1903" verso (including the extra space in the date). Inscribed by Canadian poet William Henry Drummond on flyleaf: "Mrs G.M. Jacques: With Xmas Greetings from Dr & Mrs Drummond Xmas 1904." An inscription which raises the possibility that the present binding may represent a less elaborate (thereby less expensive) dressing for export to Canada. It bears noting that a dream the poet had that Christmas Eve (1904) resulted in the composition of one of his best-loved poems, 'The Last Portage'. A relatively clean copy (with intermittent foxing) in bright binding with all gilt fresh. Lacking ffe, with hinges started. Seller Inventory # 002466
