Hardcover. Condition: Fine. No Jacket. 1st Edition. A superb, bright copy bound in illustrated cloth boards. Very crisp cover picture and lettering. The spine is bright with minimal rubbing and the lettering still nice and crisp; perhaps just a hint of discolouration. On close inspection there is minor bumping to the fore edge corner tips. Original black end papers; 32 pages of publishers advertisements to the rear. No inscriptions and the pages are bright throughout. Mild toning/foxing to some end papers, occasionally throughout, and to the page block edge. A very presentable copy indeed.

Soft cover. Condition: Good. 1st Edition. 4to. Wrappers. Covers detached - both chipped and faded at spine - otherwise a nice copy. Mélange of stories, verses, jokes, drawings, sports reports, honours, spoof advertisements - and a salutary casualty list. "We have to record in our present number the ups and downs of winter warfare for some three months. In the third week of November we moved from the rest camp which had been our home for about a month and crossed once more the invisible boundary which marks the practical limit of hostile shellfire. We began operations with a week or so of digging expeditions, conducted from reserve dug-outs or from a hut camp which is one of our familiar caravanserais. This particular camp was equipped with an excellent recreation hut and canteen, and we were able to cheer ourselves up with a concert before we resumed our activities in the way of holding front line trenches . . ." Among the Editorial Committee of this number is listed Lt R.M. Barrington-Ward: Robert McGowan Barrington-Ward (1891-1948), future Editor of The Times, 1941-7.
