All volumes inscribed by Robinson to a previous owner. 'The Martians' is fine in like jacket; the pages are toned to margins, with the text else clean and bright. All three volumes of the main trilogy very good with light bumping to edges; and Green Mars and Blue Mars with shallow bumps to front panels, near fore-edges. Spines square. Bindings sound. Trilogy dust jackets very good in Mylar with light edgewear. Textblock edges of the trilogy have faint spots of soiling at bottom edges of textblock fore-edges; the page edges of Red and Green Mars are toned, with a few spots of foxing to Red, and a little more heavily to the edges of Green; Green Mars also has a few small spots to endsheets. Interiors else clean, texts unmarked. Signed.

Robinson 1992"; Green Mars inscribed in green ink "For Jerry, with best wishes from Stan. K. S. Robinson 1994"; Blue Mars signed in blue ink. Already well-established as a science-fiction classic, the trilogy has collectively won two Hugos, two Locus awards, one Nebula, and one BSFA award. The trilogy features in Broderick & Filippo's Science Fiction: The 101 Best Novels 1985-2010 (2012), where it is likened to a 20th-century War & Peace (p. 92). The dust jacket of Red Mars prints a glowing review by Arthur C. Clarke: "A staggering book. The best novel on the colonization of Mars that has ever been written". 3 volumes, octavo. Original red, black, and blue boards, spines lettered in gilt. With dust jackets. A near-fine set in fine dust jackets, not price-clipped, Green Mars with tiny nick to head of front panel, jackets sharp and bright.

They are all 1st printings 1992, 1993, 1996, and 1999. Red & Blue Mars & The Martians are all signed and inscribed to me and dated Glasgow 2005. Green Mars came from Andy at Cold Tonnage and is simply signed by the author on the title page. Green Mars has a price clipped dustjacket and a mild score along the bottom of part of the text block (see photos). This copy also has the laid in advert for the book plus a postcard of the Challenger postcard addressed to Andy with 16 full lines of text from Stan and signed by him. All other jackets are not price clipped. Text blocks are all clean and tight essentially unread with very mild tanning to the Blue Mars text block, with sharp square boards and clean shiny jackets.
