About this Item: New York: Columbia University Press, 1935, 1935. Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. Dust Jacket Condition: Good. 4to, cloth, d.j. xxii+173 pp. 187 illus. (photos, plans, etc.) + 8 tables. An attractively produced, uncommon work. Endpapers somewhat darkened; contents otherwise completely clean and fresh. Signed in ink on the front free endpaper by the architect Walter Bogner (in 1937). This scarce study, which has a foreword by Lewis Mumford, is divided into 3 major sections: "Housing, the focal point in rehabilitating our cities"; "Study of the recent evolution and development of housing techniques"; and "Forecast of planning advancement." This work, scarce in any condition, is almost never found, as it is here, with the jacket. While the jacket is missing a piece on the spine (partially affecting one of the title words) and a piece at the extreme upper outer corner of the front panel (and is also chipped along the top edges) the title lettering and striking pictorial sketch of a modern housing estate, printed in black on a silver background, remains fully intact on the front and rear panels (which are identical). And the silver lettering on the spine of the book itself remains bright. Overall a very good plus book in a good minus jacket. Seller Inventory # 3574
