About this Item: Kiepenheuer & Witsch, [Köln Berlin], 1973. Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. Dust Jacket Condition: Very Good. 1st Edition. [548]p. Original purple cloth, yellow lettering to spine. Portions of top and fore-edges lightly stained, minor bubbling to dustwrapper flaps. A nice association copy inscribed by White on ffep for Maria Prerauer who with her husband Curt translated the novel into German. The inscription reads: "This is a re-print. Thought you might like an extra copy as the translation is yours. Patrick". White has also signed the novel on the title page in full. The first German edition was published in 1969. This 1972 second issue was obviously undertaken following White's winning of the Nobel Prize and this copy has the publisher's wrap-around noting this. A desirable copy. This issue unseen by Hubber/Smith although it is most likely the second issue of the first edition they mention at H.t7b with a print run of 6,000. Signed by Author(s). Seller Inventory # 23105
