Written by a former officer of the Russian Imperial Cavalry who taught equitation in the U.S.A in the 11 years prior to publication of the book he espoused the use of the forward seat and other new methods of making and controlling a hunter. Chapters include: Practical application of the forward seat; The Old and New methods of control; Schooling of a horse, teaching the horse to jump; A Schooling Paddock etc.The copy offered by us is a 2nd impression of the First Edition of 1939. A FINE WORK ON RIDING BY A CAPTAIN OF THE ITALIAN CALVARY RESERVE. Santini was the developer of the Italian Forward Seat and this work is the first authentic account of its use. The riding styles covered include hunting, steeplechase, bridal and show and includes both military and civilian horsemanship. A very interesting account, it is well illustrated and well written.
