Moser, Barry (illustrator). 8vo. quarter leather, marbled paper-covered boards, front pastedown. (iv), 161+(1) pages. Limited to an edition of 200 signed by the author and Barry Moser, the artitst. Private bookplate on the front free endpaper. Spine with a hint of fading, minor shelfwear, with some minor wear to the spine ends. Else a near fine copy. The flies, used as models for most of the wood engravings, were all tied by George Croonenberghs except for the "Bunyan Bug" which was tied by Norman Means. The book is so beautifully designed, the sum is far greater than its parts. The book was published the year before the author died and was the basis for the incredible Brad Pitt film which was directed by Robert Redford. In a Near Fine unclipped dust jacket with trivial wear.An exceptional copy with fantastic provenance. A semi-autobiographical collection of three-stories being the first work of fiction that nearly won the 1977 Pulitzer Prize for literature, which served as the basis for the 1992 film starring Brad Pitt.

Tiny stain to the presentation page (not anywhere near the inscription); else a very bright, near fine copy with a little of the usual tanning to the top edge of the cloth. The dust jacket is very slightly sunned, but otherwise a very nice copy. Signed "Norman" and inscribed with thanks by the author to his first publisher, March 12, 1976.
