About this Item: London Wells Gardner Darton, 1916. FIRST EDITION 1916, 8vo, 210 x 145 mm, 8¼ x 5¾ inches, tan cloth, illustrated blue, white, flesh and black on upper cover and spine, title in white on upper cover and spine, 312 pages. Upper cover: Alice in blue dress with white horizontal stripes at hem and on sleeves, white pinafore, hand in hand with the white rabbit. 16 charming black and white plates on coated paper by Dorothy Furniss (Furness on title page). Head of spine slightly worn and expertly strengthened, corners very slightly worn, slight small water stain on upper cover, not affecting illustration. Endpapers slightly browned, bookseller's round faint stamp on front endpaper, a few light fingermarks, a few pages lightly foxed in the margins. A very good tight copy of the scarce first edition.
