About this Item: New Zealand Government Publicity Office, Wellington, 1927. Card Covers. Condition: VG. No Jacket. Photos, Art, sketches (illustrator). 1st. This "Official Pictorial Souvenir of the Visit of Their Royal Highnesses the Duke and Dutchess of York" to NZ from 22 February to 22 March 1927 follows the travels of the couple in both text and photographs, with the latter predominating. They arrived in Auckland aboard the battlecruiser HMS Renown and travelled throughout the country, visiting the main centres and many smaller communities. The enthusiasm with which the visit was received is evident from the photographs, which also indicate the wide variety of events and activities the Duke and Dutchess experienced. 96 pages, sepia tone photographs throughout, seperate b/w frontis art portraits of the Duke and Dutchess by L C Mitchell, few sketches. Blue hard covers VG with gilt front titles/decoration slightly dulled, few short tears to front edges overhang of the text block, few chips edges rear cover with two marks to surafce, small insect perforation to lower corner title page, text block otherwise excellent, no inscriptions.
