Minor scuffing on covers, minor wear at tips of corners; gift inscriptions boldly in ink on two initial flyleaves; overall very near fine. In tribute to the late President Kennedy, Great Britain ceded an acre of Runnymede land to the United States and installed a memorial garden and stone monument tablet to his memory, halfway up the Cooper’s Hill Slopes overlooking the “mede” of Alfred the Great’s Witan Council. At the dedication ceremony remarks were offered by former Prime Minister Macmillan, Prime Minister Wilson, the Queen and American Secretary of State Rusk. Jacqueline Kennedy had 100 copies of their remarks printed and bound, which she distributed privately. This copy was given to Jack Kennedy’s long-time aide and “First Friend” David Francis Powers, who became museum curator of the Kennedy Library and Museum. Powers later gave it to his secretary with two signed inscriptions on separate flyleaves: "To Charlotte Woodfin: The best secretary this museum curator ever worked for. With best wishes always / Dave Powers”; “Charlotte, I thought a Wasp like you would appreciate the Dedicatory Remarks by Her Majesty the Queen. Best, Dave.” Provenance: Maury A. Bromsen (1919-2005), Boston antiquarian bookseller and honorary curator at the John Carter Brown Library, Brown University. Seller Inventory # ABE-1505835670773
