About this Item: Shelbyville, TN: Robinson-McGill Mfg. Co. [Robinson McGill Manufacturing Company], [no date, circa 1920-1930]., 1930. Poor condition - missing rear cover and probably two or three adjoining rear leaves. Collates as [front cover], [title leaf], 1-172. Large staple-bound paperback: H 27.25cm x L 22.25cm. Gray front cover with black lettering and orange center vignette; original gray cloth over spine now frayed and worn. Some foxing and soiling as well as some small chips and tears at edges/margins to interior leaves. Binding staples rusted but firm. Title page cites Index as being on "last pages" so it's possible that those are the only leaves missing but as OCLC does not locate any Robinson-McGill Manufacturing Company catalogs among any member institutions it is not possible to compare pagination. Catalog comprised of eight sections with innumerable b/w illustrations of company products with model numbers but no prices. Section 1 - Simple Buggy Harness; Section 2 -Double Buggy Harness; Section 3 - Express, Stage and Team Harness; Section 4 - Harness Parts; Section 5 - Strap Goods; Section 6 - Collars; Section 7 - Saddles (forty models pictured on pages 149-165); and Sections 8 - Hardware and Felt Goods. No publishing date specified but likely between 1920 to 1930. Robinson-McGill Manufacturing filed for bankruptcy in the early 1930s. Sold as is with all faults. Still an interesting record of horse tack equipment and stable goods manufactured by an important Nashville-area company which was a major supplier in the mid-South in the early twentieth century. Robinson-McGill started as a buggy and carriage builder in the early 1900s. Seller Inventory # D17-7792

About this Item: (printed by Egan Printing Co., for the company), (Dallas, TX), 1917. Trade catalogue. Oblong 4to. 526 pp. Frontispiece trademark illustration and numerous other illustrations from line drawings and photographs. Padgitt Brothers Company was established in 1869 and incorporated in 1900; the company's success "in supplying the needs of the saddlery trade of the Southwest [gave them] first-hand knowledge of materials and design that [were] recognized as standard wherever good goods are sold." Their catalogues were "a veritable encyclopedia of saddlery facts, classified for your convenience ? there is no reason why this book should not prove a 'silent partner' in the success of every dealer who will utilize its pages freely." The profusely illustrated catalogue, with pricing information, is organized into sections for saddles and varieties of tack down to spurs, buckles, hobbles, canvas wagon covers, buggy tops, blankets, and feedbags. The Padgitt "Bronco Brand" saddle and accessories were widely known throughout the Southwest. OCLC locates two copies of this number (National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum, San Jacinto Museum of History). Owner's name on front wrapper, a very good copy. Printed green wrappers, original printed cloth tape spine (some soiling and chipping to wrappers, tape repair to verso of rear wrapper, chipping to margin of final blank). (#6216).
