Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. Dust Jacket Condition: Poor. Jacket by Thompson (illustrator). 1st Edition. First published in 1941, this is a seventh impression of 1942, a tribute to the author's popularity. Jacket sadly very tatty, with edge wear, considerable loss to top and bottom of jacket and spine, considerable old tape repairs, some pencil scribble and time staining to back jacket. some spotting and browning to page fore edges, not price clipped (8/3), no inscriptions, internally clean tight and square, overall a reasonable copy for its age in a poor jacket. 320pp. The Saint and Patricia are looking forward to a relaxing holiday with friends in Miami, but when they arrive the house is empty and their friends gone. The plot thickens that evening when a tanker explodes off the coast and a dead British sailor washes up on the shore. Simon suspects a link between the explosion and the disappearance, particularly once shady millionaire Randolph March gets involved. But can there really be a Nazi spy ring operating out of Florida? Leslie Charteris (1907-93), born Leslie Charles Bowyer-Yin, was the half Chinese, half English author of mystery fiction, as well as a screenwriter. Quite a scarce book.
