This has been better-known generically as TOM BROWN'S SCHOOL DAYS. This version includes the Preface to the 6th English edition. This is the grandaddy of British school accounts, leading directly to Hogwarts. It introduced the character of Flashman, whose adventures as a adult were chronicled by George MacDonald Fraser.
