About this Item: The Jacobs Instrument Co., Ltd., Victoria BC, 1969. Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. Dust Jacket Condition: Very Good. First Edition. 649 pages. A landmark expose of intrigue and treachery in the U.S. Navy's weapons development program. With an extensive technical background, author opened The Jacobs Instrument Company, in a suburb of Washington, D.C., and conceived and developed for the Navy a bombing system (electronic bombsight), known as the Bomb Director System Mark 6, and also as the AN/ARB-1. His experiences with this company form the bulk of this autobiography. Although powerful forces wished to suppress it, he fought for this vital weapon program during the Korean War in spite of overwhelming threats and pressures from big business, the U.S. Navy, several Senate and House Committees, and a variety of state and Federal Courts. The whole story was swept under the rug by the press. He was eventually destroyed, but not before he had flushed out the character of modern scientific weapons research. Book unmarked and in wonderful condition with negligible wear and light soiling. Dust jacket moderately rubbed with light edgewear. Seller Inventory # 23808975
