Hardcover. Condition: Near Fine. Dust Jacket Condition: Very Good. Fourth Printing. Signed and inscribed on the first front end paper ( 'for Ben Dalgin-- with all good wishes -- John Ciardi'). Ben Dalgin was the former Director Of Art and Reproduction at the New York Times. The book is in very good condition. As you can see from the photos, the red covers are exceptionally clean and free of any wear. The book is square and very solidly bound from cover to cover. The interior of the book is in excellent condition. I'm scrolling through the pages without finding any instances of soiling. I'm not seeing any creasing either. There are no markings. No attachments. And with the exception of the author's signed inscription no one has written their name or anything else anywhere in the book. You can see the dust jacket in the first few photos. It it's in solid shape. The front was produced with the two different colors. The wear is minimal, mostly at the top edge of the spine. There's also a little bit of scuffing here and there. The flaps are in excellent shape. The jacket is NOT price-clipped, not clipped at all. It will be fitted with a protective cover after the photos are scanned. "John Ciardi is a poet of remarkable vitality in this book is alive in a way that few books of modern poetry can be said to be. There is a man here and a voice speaking-- a unique voice."--- Archibald McLeish. "John Ciardi is a poet of genuine gifts whose best poetry has wit, perception, and humanity."---- The New York Times.
