Some of the family history of the Harris family is listed inside front cover. commencing with statement of verification regarding the ancestry of the Harris family. made by Liberal MP for Leicester. John Dove Harris. Commencing 1802. concluding 1835. John Dove Harris (1809 ¿ 20 November 1878) was an English Liberal politician who sat in the House of Commons between 1857 and 1874. Harris was the son of Richard Harris former MP for Leicester and his wife Fanny Dove. daughter of William Dove of Moulton. Northamptonshire. He was Mayor of Leicester in 1850 and in 1856. He was a Deputy Lieutenant and J.P. for Leicestershire. and a J.P. for Leicester. In 1857 Harris was elected Member of Parliament for Leicester but lost the seat in 1859. He stood unsuccessfully in 1861 but was re-elected as MP for Leicester at the 1865 general election. He held the seat until 1874.Harris died at the age of 69. Harris married Emma Shirley. daughter of George Shirley of Tamworth in 1831. Seller Inventory # 002780

Adams of Natick, Mass. and his wife, Martha A. Perry, both of whom were born in 1836. They were maried in Natick on May 10 (?19), 1858. The Bible records the births of their 6 children: Eugene F, William S.(?), Charles S.(?), Arthur P., James G., and Grace P., who were born between 1859 and 1875. About this Item: A Fullarton, Edinburgh, [1863], 1863. Sm. folio, First Edition thus, text in broad double column with marginal references, with 20 fine steel engraved plates, maps and plans (plates with mild tide-mark at outer edge not affecting engraved surface), and very numerous engraved head- and tail-pieces, illustrations and decorations in the text, the title and a few leaves are lightly spotted but the majority of the text is remarkably crisp and clean; impressively bound in contemporary full niger calf, boards with elaborate gilt frame border enclosing decorative border and large floral panel all in blind, back with five raised bands tooled in gilt, second compartment framed and lettered in gilt, all other compartments elaborately framed and tooled in gilt, gilt edges, gilt doublures, marbled endpapers, hinges neatly strengthened with maroon passe-partout, boards minimally age-marked else a very good, bright, clean copy. As often the Family Register, usually placed before title, has been neatly removed. With separate printed titles for the Testaments and illustrated titles to each Book. The maps depict the Journeyings of the Israelites and the World as known to the Ancients. The plans include Noah's Ark and Rome, together with a detailed chrono-genealogical table of the lineal descent of Christ as given by Mark and Matthew.
