Setting Free the Bears by John Irving.  Published by Random House, New York, 1968.  Author's first book.  Very good first edition book in very good dust jacket.  Red paper covered boards with blind stamp graphic and red cloth covered spine with gold text and graphics.  Small dent along lower edge of front panel as shown in photo.  Head and tail of board spine are rolled.  Rubs at fore-edge corners.  Sunning and light rubbing on all outermost edges.  Light soil and dye specks on upper page edges.  Book is internally clean and text block is firm.   Dust jacket is lightly soiled overall.  Light stains on lower edge of front panel and lower corner of inside back flap, likely a bleed from the dust jacket.  Head and tail of jacket spine are creased and have several small chips.  Back corner at head of jacket spine has 5/8" diagonal closed tear with adjacent 1 1/4" crease to upper edge.  Upper left corner on rear panel has 1/4" closed vertical tear; lower left corner on front inside flap has 1 3/8" closed diagonal tear.
