Bound in red cloth (faded to orange on the covers and a slightly different orange on the spine). Gold lettering on the cover and spine. Binding good and tight, with the fading mentioned above - not from careless handling, just from 100 years on a shelf with some sun exposure. 328 pages. No date on the title page. Copyright page states Published March 1916. Publisher's code of B-Q indicates first edition. Text block clean and tight. Signed on the front endpaper "Booth Tarkington. Kennebunkport, June 25, 1932." There is a small bookplate on the inside front cover with the name Frank J. Hogan. Hogan was a Washington DC attorney and founding partner of the law firm of Hogan and Hartson.
