The original package included Madonna's 'Erotica' CD album and a comic, housed in a foil bag (comic included here). Consisting of over 100 colour & black and white photographs, this collection is one of the milestones of popular mainstream erotica, what it might be said to lack in subtlety it more than makes up for in streetwise verve and passionate attention to design. Celebrities photographed with Madonna include Naomi Campbell, Isabella Rossellini, Big Daddy Kane, Vanilla Ice and more. Sex began the global pop icon's most sexually provocative era; following the coffee table book and 'Erotica' (1992), she starred in the erotic thrillers 'Body of Evidence' and Dangerous Game (both 1993), and embarked on 'The Girlie Show' concert tour (1993-4), in which she dressed as a whip-cracking dominatrix surrounded by topless dancers. This phase culminated with the notorious appearance on David Letterman's Late Show (March 1994), in which she handed the host her worn panties and repeatedly used profanity. It became the most censored American network talk-show in television history, and, as a result of largely negative public opinion, Madonna dialled back her sexually aggressive content and softened her image to reconnect with a bewildered audience.
