About this Item: New York: Roycroft Shop, 1902, 1902. Quarto (260 × 204 mm). Bound in recent brown quarter calf, tan calf labels, spine lettered in gilt with gilt motifs, marbled sides, green endpapers, top edge gilt, edges uncut. Spine sunned, internally clean. A near-fine copy. First edition, specially illuminated with a presentation page for David Bispham, the operatic baritone who had sung for the Roycrofters. It was presented from Elbert Hubbard, founder of the Roycroft artisan community, Rudolph von Liebiech, the musical director, and "one hundred and twenty-one other Roycrofters who love him well." An attractive example of Roycroft presswork; the title page border and headpieces were designed by Samuel Warner; Otto Franz and Andrew Andrews [sic] were responsible for overseeing the printing.
