About this Item: Christie, Pall Mall., [London], 1794. SALE NOTICE. 7.75 x 12.75 inches. [4] pp. Sale notice originally folding to front title which is darkened. Traces of former folds, one of which has tear and Sellotape burn neatly repaired; otherwise a good copy. The identity of this property is not certain. It is probably not the still existing Starkey's Castle. a medieval manor house which in the 1790s would have been a farm with outbuildings as it was in its 1846 sale. From the sale particulars it sounded a more modern dwelling suitable for the tastes of the late eighteenth century: 'the Premises have been built in an uncommon substantial Manner, neatly finished, and disposed on a most eligible convenient Plan.forming a most complete Residence for a Genteel Family.'
