The legendary American author, first published the book in 1855. Totally clean except for a Christmas sticker affixed to the first blank flyleaf, with "Dec. 25th, 1908" penned above it. The bookmark is coming undone, and barely holding. Illustrations throughout. The endpapers display a beautiful floral design. The leather wraps showing signs of major wear. Wraps are cracked along the spine and torn on bottom edge. Major chipping around the edges. First few pages are coming out of binding, but holding. No interior marking, except for previous owner's name written on front flyleaf. Pages are heavily yellowed. Original binding is fairly solid, and holding. Handle carefully, and with gloves.
