The remarkable rigidity and economy of three-dimensional space structures have long been realized, but only during the last decade have they begun to come into widespread architectural use. In an age of standardization and prefabrication, their simplicity of manufacture, ease of transportation, and speed of erection are sufficient recommendation. Even more important, however, the ratio of weight to area covered can be greatly reduced through their use, and they allow the construction of long-span structures with a far smaller number of intermediate supports. The remarkable rigidity and economy of three-dimensional space structures have long been realized, but only during the last decade have they begun to come into widespread architectural use. Ysed copy with light wear to cover. Previous owner wrote name inside. Bingins is tight no interior mark.

First printing, trade paperback, has a tiny lean to the binding, bumps to spine ends and cover corners, edgewear with short tears to fore edges, light sunning with some tiny spots to spine, very slight reading creases starting to hinges, and a previous owner's name in ink to half title page, otherwise a solid, tight Near VG copy.

A sharp, clean copy to boot of this uncommon 1966 original printing, here published for the first time as a "Master of Architecture Thesis" within the Department of Architecture at the School of Architecture and Planning at MIT. Essentially the prototype for the 1968 1st trade edition. Clean and Near Fine in its pictorial wrappers, with very light creasing along the spine. Square octavo, 166 plates throughout.
