First edition, paperback issue. Signed by Ginsberg on the title page with a doodle of an arrow-pierced heart. Additionally signed and dated March 5, 1982 by Orlovsky. Publisher's black wrappers, with front cover design by Frank Holbrook, lettered in red and white. About fine, with a touch of wear to spine ends and rear wrapper. Overall, a wonderful distillation of and tribute to the famed literary couple. Straight Hearts' Delight documents Beat poets Allen Ginsberg and Peter Orlovsky's romantic relationship, in their poems and letters. The book also includes an excerpt from Ginsberg's interview for Gay Sunshine, in which he describes his and Orlovsky's first encounter and details the history of their relationship. The two met in 1954 (Ginsberg's first glimpse of Orlovsky was via a 7-by-7-foot painting of him in a Greenwich Village apartment, which made Ginsberg feel "a heart throb immediately"), and were spiritually "married" partners until Ginsberg's death in 1997. Inscribed by Author.
