The spine ends are gently bumped, and the edges of the boards are subtly toned. There is a previous owner's name on the front pastedown, and there is an old price in pen in the top right fore-edge corner of the front free endpaper. In a price-clipped dust jacket, with light soiling, and periodic short closed tears and chips to the edges (two of them, formerly backed with tape). A first edition from an author best known for his debut novel, Where the Red Fern Grows. Inscribed by Rawls on the front free endpaper: "4-2-76 / To- _____ / Sincerely / Wilson Rawls.".
