Another bump to the lower, front board edge. All else is tight and completely unmarked. The dust jacket has a 1" x 1/2" piece missing from the lower, front edge. A 3" tear runs up from this chip. There is a 1 1/2" tear to the upper spine and another tear of 1" to the upper, rear flap fold. Old clear tape to the lower spine and front edge, near the spine. This is to the interior and exterior. More tape to the interior, upper spine and the upper, rear flap fold. Price clipped. Light soiling. A scarce Caldecott Award winner. No medal or mention of medal. ; 4to 11" - 13" tall.

Unmarked and tight. The dust jacket has a 1" tear to the upper spine end. A 5/8" tear to the lower spine end. There are several other edge tears of 3/8" or less. A couple of pieces of clear tape to the verso. To the upper couple of inches of the front panel there is some minor, gentle creasing. Original price of $4. 95 to the front flap. First printing of the Caldecott Award-winning picture book called "a born classic" (Bader), quite hard to find in the first edition. 12'' x 9''. Original green cloth. In original unclipped ($4.95) color pictorial dust jacket with no award medal. Illustrated by Steig in color on every page. 32 pages. Edges of cloth toned, a bit of soiling to text; jacket with repair to foot of spine light stain to upper corner and fold, light edgewear.

Colour illustrations throughout by the author. Spine lightly faded in the dust jacket with mild toning to edges, light chipping to lower end of spine, light soiling to edges, lower corner of front flapped clipped, a very good copy.

The book is bound in the publisher's cloth and in excellent shape. The binding is tight with NO cocking or leaning and the boards are crisp with slight wear to the edges. The pages are clean, with NO writing, marks or bookplates in the book. A lovely copy.
