With its original dust jacket. 5'' x 7.5'', 127 pages. The dust jacket is in very good plus condition. It is well-preserved, with bright colors and very minimal chipping at the edges. Chipping is most prevalent, though still minor, at the spine due to shelf wear. The lettering is bright on the front panel and slightly toned but still clear and legible on the spine. The book is in very good plus condition. The illustration on the front board is slightly scuffed on the fish but is bright and complete. Slight shelf wear to the spine, with bright colors and lettering. Little to no bumping or scuffing on the corners. Small stain on the bottom and fore-edges. Writing in pencil on the rear pastedown. The text block is slightly toned but bright, clean, complete, and unmarked. This edition is very well-preserved and the cover art on the jacket makes it a unique collectible edition of a Hemingway classic. ¿The Old Man and the Sea¿ was the final novel written and published during Hemingway¿s lifetime. Written in 1951, it was first published in Life magazine in the fall of 1952. The first edition was published in 1952, with a print run of 50,000 copies. ¿The Old Man and the Sea¿ is the story of an aging fisherman who sets off to end his unlucky fishing streak. What ensues is an epic battle between the fisherman and a gigantic Marlin. It is a story of strength and struggle, respect and fear, contemplation and acceptance. This novella won Ernest Hemingway the Pulitzer Prize in 1953 and the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1954. It is a literary masterpiece written by one of America¿s greatest writers.
