About this Item: Blackie & Son Limited, Glasgow, Edinburgh, Dublin, 1890. Condition: Very Good. No Jacket. Arthur Hughes (illustrator). First. HB 'New Edition' no date believed circa 1890, first Blackie edition. Originally published in 1872 by Strahan & co. There are 2 dates written on o/ps, 1894 and 1893, as we obtained a family's collection of books, they tended to give books as presents, either at publication date, or a couple of years later, which have been noted on the o/p. As the next main publication was 1912, hence my reasoning for C1890 + the look and feel of the book. See my pic. Brick red cloth boards. Impressed heart design top and bottom border, princess silhouette, tipped in with gilt. Gilt title. Black impressed author name - all front board. Spine = red titles on gilt frame top. Heart border top and bottom. Stars and dots with gilt centre. Author name in gilt bottom. 19.3 x 13.5cm. 313 pages + 32 further pages of publisher listings. Yellow e/ps. b/w frontis. 30 b/w wood engravings. Condition: Board colour good. Scuffed top and bottom of spine. Rubbed on corners, boards showing slightly. Owner name o/p top right. Dated 1894?, she was unsure as to when it was given to her. Half title page, her mother's name, dated Xmas 1893. This page and preceeding page age discoloured. e/ps, some slight finger marks on edges. P32 and blank e/p light foxing. The odd fox spot, finger mark but in the main clean, little wear, binding good, good colour. Seller Inventory # 002560
