EX-LIBRARY copy with stickers and a date label on the rear flyleaf (over map) and stamps on each of the three page edges. No other library stamps or marks. Cloth boards, heavily silverfished by the upper and fore-edges of the front board and, to a lesser extent, by the upper-and lower-edges of the rear board. Cheyne's unfinished manuscript covered the four voyages (three in full, one barely begun) he spent collecting Pacific Island produce for the China market from July 1841 to September 1844. No 3 of the Pacific History series. Size: 8vo. Ex-Library.

Bound in original orange cloth with white lettering to spine, in publisher's unclipped pictorial dustjacket. Slight handling wear, otherwise a very nice clean tight solid hardcover copy. The dustjacket is now protected in a removable clear mylar cover. xv + 351pp. SB-46.

Record of Andrew Cheyne's voyages in the Western Pacific, from Australia to the Philippines, Macao and Hong Kong, and Java, in the 1840s. In the four voyages described he searched for sandalwood, beche-de-mer, and other tropical produce at the Isle of Pines, New Caledonia, the Loyalty Islands and the Solomons in Melanesia, and Ponape, Yap, and Palau in Micronesia.
