Hazzard is an elegant and measured writer garnering more followers with each passing year, and both editions of her 'break-through' novel "The Transit of Venus" (US by Viking and UK by Macmillan) are now becoming uncommon. It won the National Book Critics Circle Award in the US in 1980.
