Acerbi (1773-1846) was an Italian naturalist and composer, and this record of early travels in Scandinavia describes the customs of the people, detailed observations on natural history, with much on the people of Lapland in Volume II. First Edition/First Printing. Bound in late 19th century three quarter leather, with black pebbled cloth boards. Boards have wear present to the extremities of the boards. Previous owner's bookplate present to the reverse of the front board and the title page. Text is clean and free of marks. Binding tight and solid. Acerbi was an Italian naturalist and composer, and this record of his travels in Scandinavia describes the customs of the people, including folk music, and the surrounding environment. There are detailed observations on natural history, including a plate of the Lapland Owl. His travels were considered remarkable at the time because he penetrated to areas believed inaccessible, with most of the second volume devoted to Lapland. E-172; 8vo 8" - 9" tall.

Acerbi was an Italian naturalist and composer. His record of travels in Scandinavia describes the customs of the people and detailed observations on natural history. Much of the second volume concerns Lapland where he visited remote areas described here. The map is detached and has a short closed tear with little effect on the image. Scattered staining and foxing but generally clean. Bindings rubbed but the covers are tight. Very Good.
