About this Item: Charles Graham, Newark; New York, 1931. Hardcover. Condition: Near Fine. Lansing (Lang) Campbell (illustrator). 1st Edition. FIRST EDITION / FIRST PRINTING in the Original Charles Graham Picture Cover Edition, in EXCELLENT Condition, with slight Cover dusting, faint tip wear, Complete Interior with all 3 stories & all 30 Color Illustrated pages. Tight & Solid, with NO NAMES, MARKS or DAMAGE -- Very Clean for this series. While there are multiple printing dates, this is the FIRST EDITION / FIRST PRINTING for this title. All of the latter titles in the series were published in dramatically fewer numbers (remember the GREAT DEPRESSION we've heard so much about now that we are in the GREAT RECESSION?). Well, when the Markets crashed in 1929, so did the publishing houses (as the newspapers are today!). Essentially, the first couple of dozen titles in this 34 title series are (while Scarce in their First Printings) are more common and easier to find, having been printed numerous times all through the 1920's. But the last dozen or so titles get increasingly hard to find as you move down the list to the last title (#34) done in 1933 -- &, In the depths of the Great Depression, the series ended!! Enough history. This is an Excellent Example of an EXTREMELY difficult to find very late title (# 31). Rarely found this NICE!! ________________________________ Numerous other Titles listed in this series in my eBay Store -- Most are FIRST PRINTINGS, and all are in Excellent Condition! Want a few -- just email me for VOLUME DISCOUNT QUOTES. Seller Inventory # 000365

About this Item: Charles E. Graham & Co. New York, 1920. Hardcover. Condition: Fair. 1st Edition. Uncle Wiggily's Fishing Trip, or The Good Luck he had with the clothes hook and how the pip and skee were stuck by the chestnut burrs. Also the good time at the marshmallow roast. Howard R. Garis. Illustrated by Lang Campbell. Charles E. Graham & Co. New York. No date on title page. Copyright page dated 1919 by McClure Newspaper Syndicate and 1920 by Charles E. Graham & Co. List of Ungle Wiggily Books on the copyright page includes only 6 titles, of which this is #6 (although it's listed at "Ungle Wiggily Goes Fishing" here). 32 pages. Color illustrations on every page. Gray paper covers with full page color paste-down on the front. This copy is split, unfortunately. The back cover is detached. Also, part of the the rear endpaper is torn (when the cover came off, part of the endpaper remained with the text block -- there is very little loss of endpaper, but it would take a neat repair to put it back together seamlessly). Pages are clean, and nicely attached (sewn) together and to front cover. Paper missing from the spine, revealing sewn linen backing. Early ownership name on the inside front cover (in the blank where you are supposed to write your name). Measures just over 5.5 x 7 inches. The Uncle Wiggily series was enormously popular for more than a decade and has been collectible ever since. Garis published a story every day for many many years. They were first collected into book form in 1920, when Graham & Co issued 6 all at once -- this is one of those original 6. Scarce. Seller Inventory # R-288

About this Item: Charles Graham, Newark, NJ, 1929. Hardcover. Condition: Fine. Lansing (Lang) Campbell (illustrator). 1st Edition. FIRST EDITION -- EXCELLENT EXAMPLE, VERY SCARCE LATER TITLE --FIRST PRINTING!!!! Original Charles Graham Picture Cover Edition, in EXCELLENT CONDITION, with literally no real wear. Complete Interior with all 3 stories [Uncle Wiggily and the Alligator or the Adventure of the Queee Bonfire; Uncle Wiggily's Friendly Fish; & Uncle Wiggily's Smoke Balloon] with all 30 Color Illustrated pages!! VERY Solid, with NO NAMES, MARKS or DAMAGE, Extremely Clean for this series! While there are multiple printing dates, this is the FIRST EDITION for this title (1929), and is one of the 6 new 1929 titles (Check list : 6 titles were published per year beginning in 1920, then 1922, 1924, 1927 and 1929). These 1929 titles and the last 4 titles in the series (only 2 new titles were introduced in both 1931 & 1933) were published in increasingly fewer numbers (remember, in the late 1920's the U.S. was already in deep recession leading to the Great Depression we've heard so much about lately.) Well, when the Markets crashed in 1929, so did the publishing houses (as the newspapers are today!). With the exception of the first 6 titles originally issued in the 1920 run with full front paste-on illustrations (Very Scarce), first 18 titles are relatively accessible even in first printing, and were printed numerous times all through the 1920's. But the last 16 get increasingly hard to find as you move down the list to the last tile (#34) done in 1933 -- & alas, In the depths of the Great Depression, the series ended!! Enough history. This is a REAL GEM - Clean Example of a difficult to find later title, FIRST PRINTING!!. Seller Inventory # 000095
